Bio

Ms. Schmidt is an associate attorney in the firm’s Commercial Litigation department. She has extensive experience representing individuals and businesses in state and federal district courts, defending cases at the appellate level, and resolving cases through arbitration and mediation.

Throughout her career in litigation, Ms. Schmidt’s practice has extended to real estate matters, business disputes, first- and third-party insurance claims, and bankruptcy adversary proceedings. Significantly, she has represented property investors in quieting title to hundreds of properties purchased at auction. She has also successfully defended homeowner associations in proposed class action litigation for consumer fraud and in administrative proceedings before the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Ms. Schmidt has argued cases involving constitutional challenges to Nevada’s foreclosure statutes before the Nevada Supreme Court and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and received numerous favorable decisions.

While in law school, Ms. Schmidt served as the Vice President of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society and externed for the Honorable Judge Jennifer Elliott in the Eighth Judicial District Court of Nevada. In addition, Ms. Schmidt clerked for law firms specializing in family law and bankruptcy.
